YENNYFERTH BECERRA and other 14 artists \u201cHaber\u201d MAVI<\/p>\n
The installation genre is not free from the reiterative academicism of fairly worn out
\nformulas. That\u00b4s what we prove in the actual group of 13 pieces of work of that kind,
\nthat the MAVI proposes us. Less known names dominate here; nevertheless, we find
\nsome attractive authors. Four more experimented artists stand out. Without a doubt,
\nthe pair Catalina Swinburn-Teresa Aninat proportions the most genuine and deeply
\nconceptual installation. It consists on a pair of big photos and an extent polyptych of
\nleather rectangles marked by fire with a key word and date; also, they form a central
\ncross. This way, it achieves the personal remembrance of a tragic event that has
\nincluded two opposite visions of the world. Formally well balanced, the contribution of
\nYennyferth Becerra dyes itself of poetry through the white cables, of lights and golden
\nwords; remembering the Brugnoli from years before. Isidora Correa, on the other hand,
\nfalls back on her characteristic profiles of wooden furniture, this time fragmented.
\nUnfortunately, about the talented Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 R\u00edos it must be said that her mass of
\nobjects results superficial and, above all, incoherent.<\/p>\n
Among the less experimented participants, Max Corval\u00e1n-Pincheira handles with an
\nimaginative humor two different identification cards, having the respective identificated
\npeople act in a vehement way, in a digital video. Another sensitivity is the geometry of
\nValeria Burgos. Her chromatic alternation of fluorescent tubes \u2013in the line of the
\nVenezuelan Soto- deserved a much bigger special development. The house dust from
\nSantiago results the protagonist of Karen Fuenzalida. She captures it through a video
\nand a golden rug, under the television. For last, if Nicol\u00e1s Grum knows how to make
\nsculptures and simple carton boxes playfully, Rodrigo Bruna retakes his peculiar material:
\nwith bakery bags on the side, toasted bread form an ample mosaic of delicate
\nmonochrome.<\/p>\n
A lot less known artists than the previous mentioned are, in general, the 51 selected
\npainters of the MAC\u00b4s Concurso Marco Bont\u00e1. Few of them deserve to be
\nremembered. Of the three awarded, the only one to mention, just out of curiosity, is
\nGonzalo Vargas\u2019s canvas: a simple drawing obtained by the sun burn through a
\nmagnifying glass. The contributions that do emerge convincing are from the well known
\nSebati\u00e1n Leyton \u2013the magrittesque matter is very well painted, and ingeniously
\npresented-, from Patricia Claro, Felipe Cusicanqui, B\u00e1rbara M\u00f6dinger, Catalina Mena and
\nChristian Correa.<\/p>\n
Watch out the imaginative plastic meaning of the pair Swinburn-Aninat, visually
\nmaterializing concepts of today\u2019s special present.<\/p>\n
